Moroccan Style

There is something about Moroccan style that I just love. It reminds me of warm desert weather, the smell of sweet spices, and tea with mint. I've always wanted to create an hammam style bathroom inside my house. Perhaps we can create a mini hammam in our master bathroom. It would be an amazing place to just relax and disappear for awhile.

Bar Stools

Before the arrival of Elara, we actually got some stools for our coffee bar. We picked them up at Bouclair, who have a surprising amount of modern furniture that's quite affordable. These stools can be positioned at any level, so they can act as extra chairs for our dining table if we need them. We picked white to match our dining chairs and the chrome base also goes with the chairs. The wood edges will match the book shelves when we get them up on the wall behind. For now, the coffee bar is up and ready for visitors!

She's Here!

Our new arrival is here! Introducing Elara Skye Bowler, born on February 4th at 5:43am. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 50 cm long.

My water broke just before midnight on February 2nd, and I laboured at home until 7pm on February 3rd, at which point we headed into the hospital. My contractions weren't coming close enough together and so I was induced. At around 5am I was still only 5cm dilated, and baby's heart beat was slowing down. It was decided that delivery would be by cesarean.

Baby Elara ended up having to stay in the hospital for a few days longer than me. Her blood sugar was very low and she couldn't keep any food down. Poor little thing had to have an IV and lots of needles. She is doing much better now, and we are all thriving at home. Slowly learning about each other. Jeff has been working extra hard to look after both his girls.

Might be a few days or so before I'm back on my regular posting schedule as we adjust to baby's timetable. I'm also planning to post more in depth about my birth story, I'm still processing it all. So much has happened in the last week. Hope to be back soon!

The day has finally arrived, although it means little, seeing as baby will make her appearance when she is good and ready. I'm still waiting, but anything after today is late. I can't believe it has been 40 weeks. I'm quite ready to be done now, and we can't wait to meet our little girl. This little creature that kicks and rolls around inside me. So exciting! Just have to get through the delivery part.

I plan to continue posting on here up to her birth, then I will probably take a couple of weeks off. But don't worry, I will be back with lots more blogging after that! I've been keeping busy up to this point: Check out 39 week preggo rolling paint in the photo below!

Wish us luck with this new adventure! Could be any day now!
