Yes, this artist is my mother! I'm so excited to share her work with you. She is a Fibre Artist, and creates modern art pieces made from all sorts of fibres and materials. I sat down with her and asked her a few questions about her work! Eruption - 2012About: An explosive eruption of brilliant red molten lava. Fibre Art
Ever since I was younger, I have always enjoyed working with a needle and thread and it just morphed into creating art using fibre as my medium.
My favourite work process is to create something that has texture and form and the materials I use just reflect my ideas.
Fibre art today is the “new medium” and the work that is being created around the world is amazing. It’s moving away from being considered a “woman’s” craft to ART. Spherical Lava - 2006About: Exploding ribbons of molten lava. Waterfall II - 2013About: Water falling, powerfully, over the edge. Death of Our Wetlands - 2012About: The encroachment of civilization into our natural wetlands. Layers - 2006About: A creative idea using different materials and exploring texture. Fire Breather - 2004About: My imagination ran wild in designing this floating creature that breaths fire. Sunset Over Florida - 2012About: A beautiful April evening moored off the inter-coastal waterways of Florida. Diversity - 2006About: An expression of diversity as it grows from the roots into a beautiful full grown tree. Copyright: All pieces belong to Marilyn White and may not be duplicated.
