We spent this beautiful weekend exploring new parks in our area. Each morning we would walk a distance, and then the next day drive to where we left off and continue from there. So much fun, I can't believe how many wonderful places there are around us. We have been following the Waterfront Trail. Starting from our public beach, Rouge Beach, and heading east. It has been lots of fun, and we plan to keep going each weekend! At home, we still can't decide on the bathroom paint colour. It's hard to match the pinks. So in the meantime we actually got back to working the shelves in the living room. I'm so excited to get this project going again! We have been talking about it for ages, and now it's happening. It's going to take awhile, but I think they will be amazing once complete.

Somebody really cute is three months old today! I can't believe how fast the time has gone, whereas my husband feels like the time has gone slow. But we both agree that life is much better with her around. She is lots of fun, smiling and cooing so much more, it's quite exciting. Can't wait to see what the next three months bring!
I have decided to create a journal of memories as my daughter grows up. However, instead of just writing my memories down I am writing in the style of letters addressed to Elara. Then one day I hope to give it to her as a gift. Maybe when she is adult or even when she is about to have her own child. She will be able to see her life through my eyes as a person and not just as a mother. So much fun to think what the future may hold, and then to look back on all these memories.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, and (in Canada) are enjoying Boxing Day. This was Jeff and I's first Christmas in our house. We are starting our own traditions, especially with a little one on the way. It's hard to say goodbye to our childhood traditions, but it's also exciting to start our own with our new family. Merry Christmas to you, and a very happy new year!
Over the weekend we went to the Distillery District Christmas Market. I have attended the last few years and it's always a great time. Lots of entertainment, tons of food vendors, and little gift shops to explore. Even if you don't do anything but walk around the area the atmosphere is amazing. It's a great way to spend some time outside enjoying the season. Of course, it's even better with a cup of hot chocolate in hand. If you get a chance you should definitely check it out, and enjoy the festivities! Last Thursday was my official birthday, and this past weekend we hosted a birthday / house warming party. I know it's crazy to have a house warming party after we have almost lived in the house for a year, but there were still people that attended that hadn't seen the house, so it all worked out. We had tons of food, including these little Caprese Salad Bites I made up. So simple and so delicious. We played lots of fun games, and got to catch up with old friends. Overall, it was a great time! Caprese Salad Bites So easy!
Then pile them up together with a tooth pick and enjoy! Instant party food! I also got another special birthday treat! I was taken out by a good friend for tea and scones. So relaxing, and lots of fun. There is a really cute place up in Markham that is decorated like an old english tea room. They have a huge menu of teas and yummy treats to go with your pot of tea. You can also stop in just to buy loose leaf tea as well. If you are ever up in Markham visit The Old Curiosity Tea Shop. This past weekend I was honoured to have had another baby shower with all my friends here in Toronto. It was held at one of my closest friend's houses in the beaches area. It was amazing to see everyone, and we had lots of fun. It was a lot more intimate, and they added lots of personalized details. Including, creating a memory book for our future baby, and an amazing diaper cake! There was even a surprise gift from a good friend all the way over in England. Thanks ladies! I had a blast!
Just thought I'd wish you all a Happy Halloween! I'm quite excited for this year as this is the first time we will have Halloween in a house. Which means we will have kids to give candy to! Living in a condo downtown we never had the opportunity, as the kids don't go door to door in any of the buildings we lived in. Should be a fun evening, and next Halloween we will have a kiddo of our own to dress up! Happy Halloween everyone! I was asked by my friend Meghan, over at Jaunt and Flaunt, to be a guest blogger. I posted about my home city Ottawa! Intro: I know it quite well, and spent many days wandering about and learning all its little, secret spots. My parents still live here, although no longer in the suburban home I grew up in, but in an awesome condo right in the centre of downtown. We try to visit at least a few times a year, and I’m still learning of new spots through my parents’ newest discoveries. Check out more from the post at Meghan's blog Jaunt and Flaunt! We had our big mid pregnancy ultrasound today, where they measure everything. We won't know the results for another week or so, but they did tell us the baby's gender!
We found out it's a GIRL! So exciting, we can now talk about our baby as a she. It was getting hard to say it or the baby all the time. The ultrasound tech didn't want to say for sure, since the baby's position wasn't ideal, but she said it would have been more obvious if it was a boy. We are so excited! She is starting to kick lots too, she's quite the mover! |
