Our new arrival is here! Introducing Elara Skye Bowler, born on February 4th at 5:43am. She weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 50 cm long.
My water broke just before midnight on February 2nd, and I laboured at home until 7pm on February 3rd, at which point we headed into the hospital. My contractions weren't coming close enough together and so I was induced. At around 5am I was still only 5cm dilated, and baby's heart beat was slowing down. It was decided that delivery would be by cesarean. Baby Elara ended up having to stay in the hospital for a few days longer than me. Her blood sugar was very low and she couldn't keep any food down. Poor little thing had to have an IV and lots of needles. She is doing much better now, and we are all thriving at home. Slowly learning about each other. Jeff has been working extra hard to look after both his girls. Might be a few days or so before I'm back on my regular posting schedule as we adjust to baby's timetable. I'm also planning to post more in depth about my birth story, I'm still processing it all. So much has happened in the last week. Hope to be back soon!
