Weekend in Ottawa

This past weekend we spent visiting family in Ottawa. This is my birth city and my home for my whole childhood, so I know it quite well. We had a wonderful weekend, and got up to lots of fun activities. Just thought I would share with you some of my favourite things to do and eat in Ottawa. 

Top 5 Things To Do In Ottawa in the Summer

• Visit the Byward Market for fresh food and other fun things.
• Go for a walk around the Parliament Buildings.
• Attend one of the many many festivals, such as Bluesfest, Jazzfest, Chamberfest, Buskers, Ribfest, Canada Day to name a few.
• Go for a bike ride along the Rideau Canal, and watch the boats go through the Locks, which is a World Heritage Site.
• Visit many of the wonderful museums and historic houses.

My Favourite Ottawa restaurants

• Sidedoor:  Asia Fusion, great tacos, located in a historic cobblestone courtyard in the Byward Market area. 
• Za Za Pizza: Brought to you by the same owner as The Works Burgers, same idea build your own pizzas. Three locations. 
• Social: Regular fare done gourmet, excellent sandwiches.   
• The Black Tomato: Also located in a historic cobblestones courtyard, their dishes often have a little twist on the regular.
